The Miraflores museum and overlook is the best place to find out about the Canal and watch it in action. Only a few kilometers from downtown , this newly created visitors centre and museum sits right on the edge of the double lock that takes boats down the final step to the Pacific Ocean or the first step to the Atlantic.

Inside the center there are four floors of information on the canal and its surroundings, whch takes around an hour to get through. Outside there is a viewing deck where you can observe boats going through the locks with full commentary (in English and Spanish) detailing what the boats are and where they are going.

Recommended in the Frommers Guide as one of Panama’s top dining 5 experiences. The terrace and dining room offers a view of the Panama Canal Miraflores Locks and ships going through the locks and on their way through the Canal or out to the Pacific Ocean.

Everyday from 10:00am to 10:30pm.

Entrance $8 for museum, free for lower viewing deck.
