With Panama’s GDP growth rate at 7% to 9% and an unemployment rate of about 4% Panama has a significant number of open labor opportunities on any given day. With inflation at 3.7% at a relatively low cost of living Panama is an attractive place to live and work.
Panama has a few very large projects such as the canal expansion, building a metro rail system under and over the city as well as an ongoing bay cleanup project. The need for all that labor force has forced the government to open up its immigration borders a little wider to accommodate the employment needs.
